In the ‘Function’ dimension we will address key elements of how the human body works. We will look at common problems caused by modern living and how best to correct them.

We will look specifically at how Parkinson’s can affect your body’s function, how to slow down progression, and even how to improve some of the motor and cognitive symptoms associated with Parkinson’s.

In doing so, we will cover acknowledged science that lies behind the 4D Life guidelines.

Balance can particularly become an issue for people living with Parkinson’s, and we will show you how to train your balance mechanisms to ensure they are working as well as they possibly can.

In the Neuroscience episode, we will explain the terms Neuroplasticity, Neuroprotective and Neurorestorative, looking at the difference between them and how you can use these concepts to positively influence your well-being.

We will demonstrate Breathing techniques and how to use your breathing to underpin the health of your whole body, and improve the quality of your movement.

We will show you how to improve your Posture, and your Core, and relate these to common issues with Parkinson’s.

The Brain and Parkinson's

We will also highlight the complexity of Digestion and how your core muscles and the way you breathe can help resolve some of the issues associated with digestion, as well as improving the overall function of your body.

We will look at how to use two specific training techniques – Dual Tasking and Skill Acquisition – to improve both motor and cognitive function that can be affected by Parkinson’s.

And we will again emphasise the importance of walking, with a specific focus on the way you walk known as the Gait Cycle, and we will comment on the Therapies that can be of particular benefit to people living with Parkinson’s.
